Technical Delivery
Technical delivery is where the project comes together. It is the configuration, build, migration, integration, and testing work that turns design and content decisions into a live council website on LocalGov Drupal. We have been doing this work since LocalGov Drupal's early days. Our team has built and migrated council websites from a wide range of legacy platforms — Terminalfour, GOSS, and bespoke proprietary systems — and has developed tooling and approaches that make the process more efficient and less risky than starting from scratch each time.
What this covers
Environment setup and configuration We set up development, staging, and production environments and configure LocalGov Drupal to match your council's specific requirements — content types, user roles, workflows, and third-party integrations.
Theme and front-end build We implement interaction designs produced in Figma, building the theme and components accurately. Our front-end work follows accessibility best practice and is tested across browsers and devices before go-live.
Content migration Moving content from a legacy CMS to LocalGov Drupal is one of the most time-consuming and error-prone parts of any migration project. We have developed automated migration tooling that handles structured content at scale — reducing months of manual work to days in many cases, while maintaining content integrity and URL structures.
Third-party integrations Council websites rarely stand alone. We handle integrations with the systems your council already uses — payment gateways, waste collection lookups, planning portals, mapping tools, and others. Our Elections module, contributed to the LocalGov Drupal open-source project and used by councils across England, is an example of the kind of bespoke integration work we regularly undertake.
Accessibility testing All sites are tested against WCAG 2.1 AA before go-live, using automated tooling and manual testing to identify and resolve issues.
Training We provide training for your editorial team and, where relevant, your internal technical team. The goal is that your team can manage and develop the site confidently after handover.
Project management We run projects using agile methods adapted to the realities of council procurement and delivery timelines. You have a named project lead throughout, regular progress updates, and a clear escalation path if issues arise.
Open source contribution
We contribute actively to the LocalGov Drupal codebase. When we develop new functionality for a council client, we look for opportunities to contribute it back to the community so other councils benefit. Our Elections module is the clearest example — originally built for Cumberland Shadow Council's founding election and subsequently refactored as a fully open-source module available to all LocalGov Drupal councils.
